FIA GT: Tomas Enge testing a new „Aston“ at Nogaro - 05.10.2008
While the others fought for the best placing at Nogaro – why it is a race of the FIA Grand Turismo Championship – Tomas Enge and his colleague Stefan Mücke had a different task. In the colours of the Aston Martin Racing Team stable they were testing a new model of their stable, V8 Vantage GT2, upon racing conditions. The racers were continuously speeding and together with technics gradually detecting reserves of a stylish engine. The result in twelfth position was not absolutely significant. Also because the car was set in the G2 classification, which means without international FIA homologation.
Tomas Enge: „Our acting in the race, which also meant a premiére of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2 car in the FIA GT series, should be only a rough testing. The result didn´t count for us as well as for the team. And I´m really glad we could make it. From the first practise to the race we gradually increased speed and at the same time we could see the car´s reserves. Firstly we were losing three seconds to the fastest driver, then in the race itself it was only one second and something. There hasn´t been any technical problem and we´ve made a great improvement in the car´s development. So we´re satisfied.“
