Czech Circuits: Ex-F1 driver Kiesa and sportscar star Peter Kox to race for Charouz Racing - 07.08.2008

Another motorsport stars will race for the Charouz Racing System team. Most host the fourth round of the Int. Czech Circuits Championship and ex-F1 driver Nicolas Kiesa and famous sportscar driver Peter Kox are going to get behind the wheel of Mercedes AMG DTM C-Klasse cars during the endurance race on Saturday. They will share the cars with Tomas Enge, Stefan Mücke, Antonin Charouz, Vaclav Nimc and Adam Lacko. Kiesa raced in the DTM championship two years ago while Kox will try a DTM car for the first time.

Their participation confirms the increasing level of the Int. Czech Circuits Championship, especially of the premium D4 class. It is not by accident that it was nicknamed “Czech DTM” last year. The Charouz Racing System team goes to Most as the leader of the Team championship and also in other standings fights for the top spots.

Both new drivers of the team have experience with Czech motorsport. Peter Kox won the race of the German F3 championship at Most in 1991 after he beat Tom Kristensen who currently holds the record number of wins in the 24 Hours Le Mans. Kox also raced together with Tomas Enge, Jarek Janis and Robert Pergl. Nicolas Kiesa raced together with Tomas Enge in the Sebring 12 hours in 2006 when they raced for the Aston Martin Racing team.

Peter Kox: “There are various reasons why racing at Most quite special for me. First of all I have very nice memories of the track, as I won the race of the German F3 in 1991 there. Secondly, it is going to be my debut behind the wheel of an DTM car and I am really looking forward to it because a Mercedes AMG DTM C-Klasse must be a challenge for every driver. Last but no least I am looking forward to race again with Tomas Enge in one team. We are very good friends and we did many races together around the whole world. The last one was at Spa last week and before we won for example the GTS class at 24h Le Mans in 2003. The Charouz Racing System offer made me happy and allows me to race at Most.“

Nicolas Kiesa: “I am happy that I will have an opportunity to get know the Charouz Racing System team and also the Czech championship. It will be my first race at Most. I am also looking forward very much to race again a DTM car. Those cars are the best touring cars around the world. I hope to score the best possible result in the Saturday’s three hours race. If I get an offer to do another race of the Czech championship, I will be happy to take it again.”
