FIA GT Enge & Co in provisional fifth row at Spa - 01.08.2008
Tomas Enge and his teammates did two practices and two qualifying sessions on the first day of running at Spa Francorchamps which hosts the 24 hours race this weekend. The best Czech circuit driver has returned to one of his favourite tracks as a member of the IPB Spartak Reiter Engineering team. He shares a wheel of a Lamborghini Murcielago together with Peter Kox, Roman Rusinov and Jan Lammers. The final grid positions will be decided after the last qualifying on Friday.
Tomas got opportunities to drive the car in the second practice and the night qualifying that ended at midnight. Initially he was two seconds behind Peter Kox, who has many years of experience with the car, but he managed to close the gap to just four tenths when Thursday’s running finished.
Tomas Enge: “It was quite good on Thursday. It is my first time with a Lamborghini, so I needed some time to get used to it but it did not take long. I did six timed laps in one practice and I did the same number of laps in the night qualifying. Murcielago reminds me cars like Saleen S7R or Ferrari F430 where you sit nearly over the front axle and engine is behind. We had small problem with brakes but I am sure that the car
will be okay for the last qualifying.”
