Czech Circuits: Enge thrilled Polish fans in Poznan - 30.07.2008
Tomas Enge enjoyed another drive with a Mercedes AMG DTM C-Klasse at Poznan. On sunday he dominated the Sprint race of the D4 over 2000ccm, the elite category of the Czech championship. He held right from the start and was able to build up a substantial lead over the rest of the field that was again very colourful with almost 30 cars, 6 of those were DTM cars and many others were various GT cars. Enge was not the only driver of the Charouz Racing System team, Antonin Charouz finished third.
Tomas Enge put on a good show to the Polish fans. Fans behind fences admired his style that was quite a bit different comparing to others. And when a short flame came out of the exhaust and his Mercedes powerslided through a corner they applauded. “We have not seen anything like that before,” said Polish fans. Enge won with 20 seconds advantage over Tomas Kostka with an Audi A4 DTM.
“I was only two tenths quicker than Tomas Kostka in the morning’s superpole. My car is the oldest DTM car in the Czech championship and it feels sometimes. It was clear that start would decide the outcome of the race,” said Tomas. “Fortunately, I had a good gateway and was able to drive in my rhythm. I won here with Ford Fiesta 15 years ago and now with a DTM car, so I keep nice memories of the Polish track. Now I am thinking about Spa where I will race the 24 hours race next weekend.”
