Czech Circuits: Enge dominated with Mercedes Benz DTM at Most - 18.05.2008
Tomas Enge was a class of the field in the Division 4 sprint race over 2000 ccm at Most. He did not offer any hope for the rivals on the wet track even though he had to server a drive through penalty. He came to the pits behind the wheel of an Mercedes Benz AMG first and although he lost several positions he was quickly back in the lead. Today’s win is a satisfaction for the Charouz Racing System team after they suffered technical troubles in the yesterday’s endurance race.
The team had three Mercedes Benz AMG DTM C – Class cars on the grid and Vaclav Nimc finished third with Antonin Charouz was just behind. “I was told that I was too quick during the flying start and that was the reason for the penalty. I do not know but the stewards decided, so it was perhaps true,” said Enge who raced with a 2004 spec car while his team-mates and both Audi rivals had 2005 specs.
Enge truly enjoyed the race. His drive was full of the real racing art that pleased the spectators. “I woke up in the morning and saw a dark sky and rain, I was happy with it,” said Enge. “Our Mercedes Benz AMG DTM C-class works really well in the wet.”
The fans were thrilled by numerous power slides. The Ex-F1 driver played with the car with a delicate throttle work and the rear was dancing all the time. “I must praise our team. The car was perfect even though we had to change the gearbox between the warm-up and race,” added Enge.
