Czech Circuits: F1 driver Liuzzi with Charouz Racing in Most - 15.05.2008

Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi will help the Czech-based Charouz Racing System in Most this weekend. The north of Bohemia hosts the second event of the International Circuits Championships of the Czech Republic and the Italian racer will be a member of one of the two Mercedes Benz AMG DTM C-Klasse crews in the prestigious Division 4 on Saturday. His team mates will include Tomas Enge who appeared in F1 in 2001. Fans can thus look forward to seeing the mastery of two Grand Prix drivers.

In addition, they will be able to see the full line-up of the Charouz Racing System (www.racing.charouz.cz) for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours where the crew will appear with a LMP1 prototype powered by Aston Martin. The crew is a trio of Jan Charouz, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mücke. The drivers will race with the Mercedes Benz in Most.

Vitantonio Liuzzi (27), a native of Lotorocondo, Italy, has been involved in F1 in his fourth year now. For this year, he is third driver of the Force India F1 Team. For the two preceding seasons, he raced under the colours of Scuderia Toro Rosso and in 2005 he was third driver of Red Bull Racing and race driver for a part of the season. He got his first taste of driving the regal formula in 2002 based on an invitation for testing from BMW Williams F1 Team.

His manager, Peter Collins will accompany him to Most. The Australian who has F1 teams such as Lotus, Benetton and Williams under his belt was there in the early stages of the careers of Nigel Mansell, Mika Häkkinen and Gerhard Berger. For this year, he is also the racing coach to Czech Erik Janis in the F3 Euroseries.

Liuzzi is a champion of the FIA F3000 International 2004 and the holder of a record in the form of seven wins out of ten races. His other success includes the kart world championship title from 2001 when he also was the vice-champion of the German Formula Renault series. In Most (www.autodrom-most.cz), he will start in the prestigious Division 4 three-hour race on Saturday together with Jan Charouz, Antonin Charouz and Vaclav Nimc (Mercedes Benz AMG DTM C-Klasse). For the second car of the same model, Tomas Enge, Stefan Mücke, Antonin Charouz and Vaclav Nimc will take turns driving. Antonín Charouz, Nimc and Mücke will then start on Sunday’s Sprint.

Vitantonio Liuzzi: “I am looking forward to the Most race. It will mean several firsts for me. For the first time, I will try this Czech circuit, and I have never to date driven a DTM series car. I was happy to accept Antonín Charouz’s offer to start for his team. I know Charouz Racing System as a good team, I know that they will offer me to drive a perfectly prepared Mercedes Benz AMG DTM C-Klasse. I have heard that the Czech Republic’s International Championships are attractive and of good quality. I believe I will have a good race and a lot of fun on Saturday’s three-hour event.”
