LMS: Enge and Garcia won LMGT1 class at Monza - 27.04.2008

Tomas Enge and Antonio Garcia played a big role in one of the highlights of today’s 1000 km race at Monza. The Czech-Spanish duo was fighting for the whole race with a Corvette crew led by Olivier Beretta and the Aston Martin DBR9 finished ahead at the end. Both cars were running within seconds, sometimes they were separated only by tenths.

It was a tough fight especially between Enge and Beretta. Both ex-formula 1 drivers know each other very well from many battles in the 24 hours Le Mans and American Le Mans Series. The Czech has been member of the factory Aston Martin team while the Monegasque driver has been for many years part of the factory Corvette squad.

Tomas Enge: “It was a good race for us. Everything worked well. This time it was my turn to do majority of the race. I was over three hours behind the wheel and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. The fight with Olivier Beretta was very hard and I am happy that we led at the end. The spectators hopefully enjoyed the race because we ran within few seconds nearly all the time.”
