Lamborghini ST: Five podiums for Gravity-Charouz Racing team - 04.10.2011

The famous German venue Hockenheimring saw a successful performance of Gravity-Charouz Racing team within the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekend. Czech squad clinched five podiums during the race weekend, however the overall result could have been even better.

The best performance showed the car #77, crewed by Filip Sladecka and Gerhard Tweraser. These two young drivers achieved second position in Saturday race and then two third places on Sunday.

Filip Sladecka said: “We achieved podium in every race at Hockenheimring, so I am delighted with the result. Our goal for this event had been a large number of points, so the result met our expectations. On Saturday we showed both speed and reliability throughout the race. On Sunday occurred a gearbox problem and maybe we could choose better tyres. With regard to these hitches, we made the most.”

The #88 car, driven by Petr Charouz and Tomas Enge, struggled with a bad luck almost during the whole weekend. Due to a brake failure they retired from the first race. Only the second race was flawless from their point of view: Thanks to a great performance they finished fourth. However, unfortunately it turned over again. Tomas Enge had looked dominant after the start of the third race and got the leading position, but a failure occurred during the pit stop, forced the Czech pair to retirement.

Petr Charouz said: “Unfortunately we had a bad luck. In every race we suffered by technical problems, which avoided us to fight for better positions. I feel sorry for it, because we showed consistent pace.”

Tomas Enge said: “We had a good pace at Hockenheimring. If there weren’t technical issues, we would fight for the podiums, but there are no ‘ifs’ in the motorsport. I had a moment in the first race, when the brakes broke down. In the third race we weren’t able to start our car after the pit stop.”

The car #99, crewed by Erik Janis and Jakub Knoll, tried to defend a victory from the previous race at Spa. At the German venue they achieved third position in the first race and they even improved in the following race, which they finished second. Janis and Knoll had to retire from the third race due to a technical issue.

Jakub Knoll said: “I am happy with two podiums, although I know we achieved them thanks to my team-mate Erik, who did an excellent job. On Saturday I wasn’t on pace, on Sunday I was more happy with my performance. Unfortunately, in the final race we suffered by technical problems – we couldn’t start our car after the pit stop. But it’s racing.”

Erik Janis said: “From my point of view it was a positive weekend. We finished two races and in both we clinched two podiums. It’s a pity we couldn’t finish also the third race, but there were some technical issues. I would like to commend Jakub, who drove very well in Hockenheim.”

Antonin Charouz, the team director said: “I am very happy our Lamborghini Gallardos operated by Gravity-Charouz Racing team regularly achieve top positions. As compared with the beginning of last season, the team has made a big progress and our results are better and better. I regret technical problems in the third weekend’s race. Two of our cars retired in the same time for the same issue. The problem is probably in the starter, but we have to find out the cause.”
